Fabric of Legacies ~ Susan Strickland

“Fond Memories”, a fiber piece by Susan Strickland is now on exhibit in the “Fabric of Legacies 29th Annual Art Quilt Exhibition” at Lincoln Center, Ft. Collins.
Fond Memories
Inspiration: letters saved by my Mother which were written to me during WWII, welcoming me into the world. My Dad was stationed overseas and I did not see him until I was three years old. I wanted to commemorate and remember the love and loneliness that these men were feeling.

Regina Benson

Dramatic New Textile Installations by

Regina V. Benson

Sept. 15 – October 8, 2011

Ice Cube Gallery, 3300 Walnut St., Denver, CO 80202

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 15, 6 – 9 pm

General Gallery Hours:

Fridays: noon – 9 pm, Saturdays: noon – 5 pm

Second Saturday, October 8, noon – 7 pm

Private and group tours available by appointment: (303) 278-0413

Regina’s recent contemplations of forest fires and volcanic eruptions has led her to create this body of work that asks the viewer to share in a visual space filled with glowing embers, emerging flames and distant fire bursts – works that undulate off the wall and ceiling. Creating her marks directly on the landscape, Regina Benson uses rocks, grasses, and even the falling snow, to inform her vision, marrying the message with the medium

Among the new works in this show, Regina has created a 40-foot work that takes you directly through a burning tunnel; another work flames with digitally integrated LED’s, and more.
