Ruth Powers program hosted by CQC

The Colorado Quilting Council will be hosting Ruth Powers on July 27 at Boulder Valley Christian Church, in south Boulder

Ruth creates wonderful works inspired by nature.  She has won numerous awards and was recently featured in Machine Quilting Unlimited

(May 2013 – on the cover plus 5 pages inside).  See her quilts at then come to the meeting to see them in person.

Members are free and guest $10.  The meeting starts at 10AM.

Ruth will also be teaching a workshop July 28 at Tomorrows Heirlooms in Westminister.    Members: $55,  Non-Members $75.

This paper piecing workshop will introduce you to the process in a fun and easy way using a prepared pattern and freezer paper templates.  There is some

work that workshop participants need to do ahead of time.  Contact Ellen at for details.

Friday, August 9, 2013, 7:00 p.m. – Susan Cleveland – “My Eclectic Quilt Pageant”

Susan is an international award-winning quilter, author, quilting tool designer, and “Piping Hottie!” Through her program Susan will demonstrate unique ways to transform traditional patterns, using precision piecing, thread embellishments, unique piping techniques, and inventive details. Her original style, unexpected elements, and fine workmanship earned her the honor of being named the 2010 Minnesota Quilter of the Year.  Inclement weather forced cancellation of Susan’s visit in April, but we are pleased that alternate dates were available.  Visit to see Susan’s work.     $5.00 guest fee

Saturday, August 10, 2013, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Susan Cleveland Workshop – “Trio”

Know for her upbeat teaching style, Susan will inspire participants to try new techniques that include: using heavy decorative threads for embellishing and quilting; making prairie points with stitching and embellishments; skinny borders; and ditch quilting. The class is appropriate for beginners to advanced quilters. Workshop cost is $50 for Guild members; $55 for non-members.

Don’t miss this chance to see over 200 quilts hung in the splendor of the State Capitol and main Denver Library.  It only happens every other year.
