SAQA’s CO/UT/WY region is pleased to announce an exciting regional meeting
Saturday, September 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At the Ice Cube Gallery, 3320 Walnut Street, Denver, CO. (www.icecubegallery.com) This is a venue in Denver that actually has FREE parking in a next door lot!
Regina Benson has generously volunteered to hold a workshop for us during her show of her new work “Water Marks” (her show runs September 17 to October 10)
Here is what Regina has planned for us:
Let’s hang it dimensionally!
Regina will have two gallery walls prepared with concave and convex hanging devices for participants to practice hanging their art quilt, paper or textile works in several dimensional configurations. She will spearhead a conversation and encourage constructive critique about the design and fabrication of dimensional work. Through direct comparison of contrasting presentations, attendees will have the immediate experience of seeing their own and other artists’ works hung in various configurations so that future project designs might be informed by this experience.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a piece of completed work, at least 12 inches but not over 48 inches in width, which Regina will hang on the gallery walls in several configurations. Bring cameras to take pictures of works in flat and dimensional presentations. A lively discussion is anticipated as we view the spatial, aesthetic and emotional effects of these altered perspectives of our art work.
This would be a great opportunity to introduce fiber artist friends that are not yet members of SAQA to come and see what we are about.
Because we need to help Regina plan for this meeting, please RSVP to Bev Haring at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Tuesday, September 22
