State of the Region Report: Colorado, Utah and Wyoming
Each year, your Regional Representatives file a State of the Region Report to SAQA Central. These reports are available on the SAQA website, but we thought it would be a fine idea to share the highlights with you, our members. The Region is the level to first touch base with other members, a source of information for regional and national activities, and a resource for information and advice.
Exhibits: We had one exhibit last year, Above and Beyond. Fifty-one members submitted 244 pieces for entry. Forty-five members/pieces were juried into the show.
SAQA Regional Groups: Fifteen members in Northern Colorado started the NOCO SAQA Critique group. The purpose of the group is to get feedback on current work, share creative resources and encourage each other to move forward in their art.
The Regional Reps encourage other critique groups to form in other areas of the region. If you need help doing this, please contact Mary Louise or Bev for information.
Communication: The Regional Reps wrote and sent the blog to all regional members 15 times last year. These included the monthly news as well as several special notices.
We also have a FaceBook page with 123 members. We need more members to sign up since we now have 194 members in the region. You can access our FaceBook page here
SAQA Trunk Show: We brought the SAQA Trunk Show to ten venues this year to share the art we all love to create.
Goals for 2018: Mary Louise and Bev have put forward several ambitious goals for the next year:
- Revive the Small Works Regional Show
- Hold a virtual Regional Meeting
- Schedule shows in Wyoming and Utah for 2018 and 2019
In order to accomplish these, we need help from our members. We would be especially interested in hearing from anyone about possible venues for shows. Please contact Mary Louise or Bev if you are interested in working on any of these goals,
